What may be different when you cross border?
Cross Border may mean many things, such as living or keeping residence in multiple countries, doing business internationally, owning property or investing in foreign countries, or even just studying or traveling abroad.
Many things may become strange or different when you cross border. Here are a few examples only.
Law and regulation will be different.
Your home country attorney may not be qualified or permitted to assist you in that foreign country and you will need one licensed in that jurisdiction.
It becomes complicated to comply with law and regulation not only in the foreign jurisdiction but also in your own country. For example, you now must think about export control, import control, supply chain compliance, and many more legal issues that you didn't have to bother with before.
An enforceable contract may not be defined the same way in another country.
Cultural differences, ideological differences, and racism, though probably not always factored in legal counseling, can have significant impact on businesses and individuals.
These issues can be hard and costly. You almost definitely will not run into all of the barriers, but likely you will run into some of them. So at least some adequate degree of multilingualism, cross culture capacity, and cross border legal assistance will be needed.
